Sausage Cheese Balls (the original) Recipe
It seems there are a million different ways to make sausage balls, some add cream cheese, hash browns, etc..
This is the original Bisquick recipe, and the one I always fall back on. I make these year-round, but I especially like to make them around this time of year.
We always have these Christmas morning while the kids are opening presents. These sausage cheese balls are also a favorite appetizer to take to parties!
They are super simple to make, and to make it even easier I make them ahead the night before and freeze them. The next morning all I have to do is take them out of the freezer and just pop them in the oven!
My only suggestion is to use freshly grated cheese you grate yourself with a cheese grater over pre-packaged grated cheese. Fresh grated cheese has higher moisture content and is easier to blend and not as dry.
- 1 pound pork sausage
- 2 cups Bisquick Baking Mix
- 1 pound shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl combine sausage, baking mix, and cheese, then mix all ingredients (can use an electric mixer)
- Form into walnut sized balls and bake 20-25 minutes.
