Penelope & Lou Candles

Penelope & Lou Candles is run by husband and wife team Amber and Andren. The name Penelope & Lou is actually named after their two cute ferrets! All of their candles are handcrafted with 100% soy wax grown in the U.S.A. They use high-quality fragrance oils and are infused with natural essential oils. The wax, fragrance oils, dyes, and wicks are all vegan-friendly. They also use eco-friendly supplies and packaging that’s 100% reusable and recyclable. Even the Mason jars the candles come in, can be reused after cleaning it out after the candle has burned down!

I first came across Penelope & Lou Candles on Instagram ( you can also check out their Instagram page here if you’re interested) As you may know, I’m a huge fan of good smelling bath products and a huge bath junkie, but I also love good smelling candles! What really caught my eye about the Penelope and Lou candles were some of the fun names they used and how each of the candles were in Mason Jars. 

All of their scents have fun, nostalgic names such as “Cool Cat” for their Peppermint and Eucalyptus scent and “Bad Mama Jama” for the Oakmoss and Amber Scent. I also love the fact that they don’t contain any harmful chemicals and are clean burning.

I originally had a hard time picking out a scent because almost all of them sounded like some I would want to try, but I decided on The candle Mother Earth and the soy melts Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. Amber was also super nice and threw in Film Noir wax melts for me to try!

Mother Earth

Mother Earth has the earthy scents of basil and herb and sweet lavender. Amber describes it as “light and airy and a scent that makes you feel like your laying in a field on a warm summers day” I didn’t know when I chose this, but it is also her master creation and one of the signature scents. It has a nice fresh earthy but sweet scent to it and smells amazing! Amber definitely describes it best!

 I have burned this candle straight for around three hours now, and not only does it smell great, but there is no nasty black soot or worry about breathing in harmful ingredients—just pure fragrance. It burns clean and has a wonderful fragrance without being overpowering.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep & Film Noir

The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Wax Melts were just what I needed. I’ve been melting this in my warmer in the bedroom. This scent contains the aroma of white tea, currant, and mint. This scent is definitely relaxing, and my bedroom smells wonderful!

Film Noir has a unique smell that I can’t quite put my finger on, but I love it! I’m happy she included this one! 

All of the scents I tried smelled amazing. If you’re looking for a clean burning eco-friendly soy candle tthen you should definitely check out Penelope & Lou Candles and the wax melts too! I’ve also spoken with Amber several times over email, and they seem like great people that are really passionate about their business and care about their customers!
