I’m so excited to share with you this DIY Foaming Hand Soap recipe! Not only is it super easy to make, it’s also easily customizable!
The main ingredient you will need is Castille soap. I’m sure many of you are already aware, but just in case, Castille soap is an all plant-based soap that is highly concentrated. You can use it to mop your floors, make homemade cleaning products, wash your face and hair with it..the possibilities are seriously endless!
Lately, I’ve been using Dr. Jacobs Castille Soap it is 100% natural and safe to use for even the most sensitive skin. It’s also environmentally friendly, and a little more economically priced that other Castille soap brands!
Dr. Jacobs Castille Soap comes in several different scents including Lavender, Citrus, Coconut, Peppermint, unscented and more. You can purchase it in a bar soap, 16 oz liquid with a pump, and also a 32 oz refillable bottle.
The Almond Honey scent is moisturizing and the scent is amazing and The peppermint scent smells clean and is uplifting without being overpowering. I also had the chance to try out the Coco Loco Limeade bar soap. It has a nice citrus scent and reminds me of Summer! We go through lots of soap at our house. With Dr. Jacobs Castille soap you don’t really have to dilute it, but I like to make it stretch a little further and it works great! My 2 year old loves to play in the soapy water and she also uses the soap to bathe her baby dolls and of course, we use it to wash our hands. I don’t really mind my daughter using it to play in and wash her babies, I guess at least that way her hands and toys are clean. Plus she has fun playing and learning!
I thought it would be fun to make a foaming soap with the Dr. Jacobs Naturals Castille Soap. It’s easier to control the amount that way, and since Dr. Jacobs has 2x the viscosity it only takes a small amount.
Here’s what you will need:
- Foaming soap dispenser ( I purchased a pack of 3 plastic dispensers, but I also love the mason jar ones here. Glass just isn’t practical with my little ones right now. You can also re-use an empty foam dispenser if you already have one.
- Castille Soap (your favorite scent or unscented version)
- carrier oil (I used almond oil, but you could use another carrier oil or even olive oil in a pinch)
- small funnel
- essential oils (optional)
- labels (optional) use Avery sticker paper here, or you can use card stock and seal it with clear tape to prevent it from getting wet or purchase chalkboard labels.
That’s it!
Directions: Add Castille soap, water, carrier oil, and essential oils (if using) to your bottle using a small funnel. Don’t worry if it’s not all the way to the top. It will expand some once you put the top on
