Snag Yourself A Killer Pose
Even in this crazy digital world of selfie taking, you still might not be comfortable in front of the camera. It actually takes quite a lot of confidence to take a good photo. When someone is pointing a camera phone in your face and telling you to smile; it might feel like the last thing that you want to do. You might not be feeling at your fittest and are worried about looking fat in the photograph. Or you could be worried about your teeth – especially if you missed your last dental appointment. If you haven’t washed your hair for a week or you have a stain on your T-shirt, you’re guaranteed to think about that flaw when someone wants to take your photo. Some people are just naturally photogenic! They are blessed with the ability to turn it on for the camera and work their angles to perfection. But if you aren’t quite so confident, here are a few words of encouragement.
- Make yourself smile
If you’ve ever studied the photos of celebs taken on a red carpet, you might notice that they always have the same kind of smile. You could call it their signature smile. They know that this is the pose that will make them look good when the world is watching. And you can bet your bottom dollar that they have practiced that pose a lot. You need to do the same. Take out your phone and get snapping some seriously cute selfies. You don’t even have to publish them anywhere. You just want to work out what works best for you. Once you’ve found the smile that makes your eyes light up in photographs – practice it, remember it and make it work for you.
- Use your head
A great idea when having your photo taken is to angle your face slightly. This will add some shadows and shape your face a bit better. Again, it’s about practice. Work out what angles are best for you in your mirror at home. It could take a while to figure this out but stick with it. Tilting your head down or slightly up will elongate your face and show off your best side. Also, make sure you look a little above your natural line of sight for the best results.
- Get snap happy
Of course, the Photographer who is taking the shot might just be being sociable but having a photoshoot hour can actually be super fun! It also gives you a chance to work on all of your poses too. Try different things and don’t be afraid of the results. If you don’t like what you’re doing in a photo, just change it and make it work for you. A good photographer will be patient with you and encourage you to feel good about yourself.
- Have fun
The more fun you’re having in your photographs they better you will look. Try to feel good about the photos because this feeling will shine all the way through to the results.
