Transform Your House Into The Perfect Home For The Family
Your family home is the most important place in the world. Somewhere to keep your loved ones safe and spend quality time together. The place where you watch your children grow and nurture them into successful adults. But family life can be busy and chaotic, so you need systems in place keep on top of things while creating a relaxing haven. Here’s how you can go about it.
Find The Right Storage
When every member of the family has their own separate lives to lead (whether it’s school, college or work) and with everyone’s possessions, you can end up with a whole lot of ‘stuff’ in the home. Regularly decluttering allows you to keep on top of all of this, but the right storage is always going to be necessary to keep things in order. In bedrooms, you could consider fitted wardrobes for storage, since these are floor to ceiling and can be fitted around any awkward nooks they’re ideal for large and small rooms alike. Enough space to hold clothes, bedding, equipment for hobbies, things for work and everything else. If your kids are younger and you’re forever battling with toys everywhere, go for a chest or ottoman that matches the rest of your furniture. Toys can be chucked in when you’re tidying up without it looking like a toy box, and it doubles up as a spare seat too.
Make Sure It’s Easy To Clean
Again as family life is busy, it doesn’t take long for it to get into a mess. If you’re the person responsible for cleaning and tidying you have your work cut out for you. However, there are a few things you can do to make the process as easy as possible. Downstairs, rip out carpets and have a hardwearing and easy to clean floor surface installed. Whether it’s solid wood, laminate, vinyl or tile, and spills, muddy footprints and accidents from pets can be cleaned up in a flash. Since carpet holds onto stains and smells and is difficult to clean, it’s not the best choice for a busy family. If you’re worried about the cosiness, lay down a couple of big rugs. These are far easier to clean or replace than carpet. Keep clutter to a minimum too, if you have smaller items you want to display group them on trays to keep them looking neat and making it easier to dust and wipe surfaces.
Create The Perfect Place to Relax
Home is where everyone gets to put their feet up, relax and spend quality time together. To make the most of this, you need to make sure your living space is as comfy as possible. Invest in comfy chairs and sofas, with enough space for everyone to be able to stretch out and relax. Consider spending the extra on a full home theater installation, perfect for family movie night. Have blackout blinds installed at the windows to keep the light out when you’re all watching the tv at the weekends, and pile on plenty of cushions and throws so everyone is cosy and comfortable.
Make Use of the Garden
Unless you live in a part of the world with a very nice climate, chances are there’s a big part of the year when you can’t really use the garden. But when the rain and snow clear up and the sun comes out, you should aim to get outside as much as possible. Give it a tidy- mow the lawn and dig the flowerbeds filling them with colorful flowers making it a nice place to sit outside. Buy some giant lawn games, or set up a sprinkler for little ones to play in. Buy a good quality barbecue and enjoy alfresco dinners on warm evenings.
