Over the years I have tried many at home teeth whitening systems , from the strips you apply directly to your teeth, to whitening pens and trays and even charcoal toothpaste.
All of them have their advantages and disadvantages, but I’ve never been completely satisfied with any of them. The strips never seemed to get my teeth white enough, and the whitening pens are great at getting in between the teeth but not all over.
I think I’ve had the worst luck with trays in the past. Usually, it involves molding pre-made trays in boiling water to fit your teeth, and I have never been able to get them to fit right.
Charcoal toothpaste works okay, but can be abrasive overtime, not to mention it can make a mess! I have never tried a custom molded tray whitening system, so I was excited to try the Smile Brilliant System!
With Smile Brilliant they send you an easy to use kit including trays and a base and catalyst, so you get a perfected mold. Once you send your molds back in the free return shipping packages, you receive your custom molds back in about 4-5 days. I have to say the custom molds make all the difference! They fit my teeth perfectly, and I couldn’t even really tell that I was wearing them.
Here is a pic of the impressions I sent back.
Once I received the custom molds back, I couldn’t wait to get started!
Here is a before pic before we get started.
The whole Smile Brilliant System is very easy to use, and I love the convenience of being able to do it in the comfort of my own home. The kit comes with whitening gel, in easy to use tubes, desensitizing gel to use after each treatment to help prevent sensitivity and prevent further stains and of course the custom molds.
For each treatment, I added the whitening gel to the trays, inserted them into my mouth and went about my normal business. As I said before the trays were really comfortable and I was able to talk and do everything normally as usual.
You can leave the trays in between 40 minutes and up to 3 hours. I never timed it exactly how long I left in each treatment, but I would say on average I left it about 2 hours.
After you are finished with the whitening part, you then rinse your teeth with cool water and apply the desensitizing gel. I only experienced very slight sensitivity once or twice, and it quickly went away.

Overall, I have to say I’m pretty happy with my results! The smile Brilliant system was easy to use, the trays were a perfect fit, it wasn’t messy, and I only experienced a very slight sensitivity.
