I have a confession to make, I’m a melt and pour soap addict! If you’ve never made melt and pour soap you’re missing out!
It’s just like the name says, you basically melt the soap base, add in the scent and or additives you want to use, and pour it into a mold.
I love how easy melt and pour soap is to customize. To start, you can choose from many different soap bases depending on your skin type and need, such as goats milk (my favorite) shea butter, oatmeal, honey, clear glycerine, and more. Then you just choose the essential oil or fragrance oil you want to use.
I would love to eventually try making a hot or cold processed soap, but it’s just not practical for me right now. Original soap making requires you to use lye and special safety precautions, and I have way too man little ones running around the house to want to attempt this.
So, for right now melt and pour soap is perfect! It has already been through the saponification process so you don’t have to worry about getting burned or inhaling the fumes.

I love to make soaps that coordinate with the time of year or holiday and place them by the kitchen and bathroom sinks.
I thought this DIY Strawberry Soap would be perfect for Valentine’s Day, although they would also be good any time of the year. They also make great gifts!
You Will Need: (click on the links below to find out where to buy)
Goats Milk Soap Base (or your favorite soap base)
Silicone Mold ( I use this —it also comes with a wavy and straight cutter) ( this here is another favorite silicone mold that I use frequently)
Soap Cutter (optional to give the soap a wavy look)
The recipe below will make enough for approximately 8-10 bars of soap depending on the type of mold you use or how wide you cut the soaps.

Strawberry Soap
Lightly scented DIY strawberry melt and pour soap.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs goats milk soap base
- 10-15 drops strawberry fragrance oil
- 3-4 drops pink or red soap colorant (optional)
Instructions
-
Cut the soap base into small chunks and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals until fully melted.
-
Carefully remove the soap base from the microwave and stir in the strawberry fragrance oil and soap colorant if using.
-
Pour the scented soap base into your silicone mold and allow the soap to fully harden.
-
Once the soap has fully set up, pop out of the molds. If using a loaf type silicone mold, pop the full bar out of the mold, and then cut using a soap cutter to the desired size.
-
You can package the soaps for gift giving or use right away.
