Do your Research
So it was late July, in the heat of the summer, and I noticed that the air conditioner in my studio apartment wasn’t blowing any air. I checked the wires for a lag in the connection and also checked that the sockets were working. And everything seemed fine. “Aha!” I thought to myself. I would need someone to come and check this thing out.
So without wasting time, I grabbed my phone and Googled air conditioning repair services in North Hollywood. And as expected, I was greeted with a list of businesses and professionals that provided similar services in my neighborhood. The challenge now was finding the one to hire, and to be Frank; I didn’t think it would be easy at first. I started by checking the websites on the search return page from Google.
And after checking out a few on the first page, I stumbled on http://www.morairinc.com/. What attracted me wasn’t the design of the website. In my opinion, there is nothing fancy about the site. It was the fact that they were licensed & insured and also the testimonials from the previous clients that landed them the job. You also want to hire a certified expert with the right license that is up to date.
So you want to do thorough research and comparison of the different services that are available in your vicinity. If the internet does not work for you, check through the Yellow Pages or ask around from your close friends and family. They may have one or two specialists who can help you with the repairs.
Ask Questions
Once you do settle on a technician or company to get the job done, you want to do well to ask questions. Remember that you are paying for their services, and they should be more than willing to answer all your questions.
When I finally contacted the repair guys, the first question I asked them was if they had any technicians who could take a look at my Goodman unit. The lady on the telephone answered in the affirmative, and I gave her my contact details, and she promised that someone would come to check it out. As promised, the next day, a repairman showed up in front of my door and asked if I had problems with my air conditioning unit. You can check here for some of the things to expect from your handyman.
Be on the Lookout for Experience
So after allowing Mario into the apartment and offering him a drink, which he turned down, I pointed him in the direction of the AC. All the while he was inspecting the unit and running all the checks, I looked carefully for any signs that he knew what he was doing. Since it was a central unit and not the window type, he was eager to do all the necessary checks with one remote looking kind of gear.
After a few minutes, he replied, “you have a dirty filter, and this is obstructing the fan. It also looks like you are out of refrigerant, but I would need to confirm that.” And it did turn out that the unit was low on coolant. After discussing with him and going back and forth about some other unrelated stuffs, we settled on a price. He then went on to finish the job after making all the necessary checks, and everything was back to normal.
Overall, you want to do your research, and look out for honest professionals with a proven track record. You also want them to have all the necessary certification with the appropriate authorities. So you want to keep that in mind when looking for a handyman for your air conditioning unit in North Hollywood or other parts of Los Angeles.
