The Repercussions: How to Cleanup After a Party in 7 Simple Steps
The party was a blast, but now it’s the next morning and the house is a disaster. It’s time to start cleaning, but with so much to do, it’s hard to know where to start and what to tackle first. After a fantastic party, use the following steps to get everything cleaned up fast, so the house looks great again.
Figure Out Where to Put the Trash
There’s likely a lot of trash, especially if it was a dinner party and lots of paper plates, plastic silverware, and plastic cups were used. Whether it’s spread throughout the house or piled high in the kitchen, it’s time to toss everything. When there’s a lot of trash, use a Roll Off Dumpster Rental instead of bagging everything up and waiting for the trash to be picked up.
Toss Anything Broken or Not Usable Again
Accidents happen, especially during parties when everyone’s focused on having a great time. If anything’s damaged, it can be tossed in the dumpster. Sometimes, broken furniture might be fixable, but if it’s not or there’s no time to fix it, go ahead and get rid of it while it’s easy to do so.
Gather All Laundry to Wash
Any fabrics that can be washed should be gathered in the laundry room. Start one load, then work on the next cleaning steps. As a load finishes, start a new one and get back to the other steps. Those who don’t have a washer machine at home can gather and bag everything to take to the laundromat after the rest of the cleaning is done.
Handle Any Stains
Upholstered furniture, carpeting, and other fabrics throughout the house that can’t be cleaned in the washer may end up with stains. If this happens, take time to learn how to get rid of stains and make sure all stains are cleaned as soon as possible. The faster they’re handled, the easier it will be to get rid of them.
Clean Counters and Tables
Once all of the trash is tossed, the counters and tables look clear again, but there are probably crumbs and spills to deal with. Clean off all counters, tables, side tables, and other furniture that might need to be wiped down. Make sure the furniture is cleaned and dried, and the house should start to look a lot better again.
Clean the Floors
Sweep and mop or vacuum all of the floors to get as much as possible off them and create a clean area to walk. Since all the trash has been disposed of, the house should look great once the floors are cleaned. After this, take the time to look through the house and clean up anything that was missed the first time through.
Clean Up Outside
When the inside of the house is done, it may be time to tackle the outside. If the party extends to the backyard, there’s likely a lot to clean there as well. Pick up any trash, throw it away, and put away anything that was left out. Make sure the yard is back to looking great again.
Hosting a party can be a lot of fun, but there may be a ton to clean up once it’s over. If you’re planning on having a party, make sure you work through the steps above once it’s over to get the house back into great shape as fast as possible.
