DIY Projects to Try Out Using Tape
Duct tape is widely accepted as the ultimate fix-it tape. The history of duct tape dates back to World War II. Duct tape is used for DIY projects and creative crafts because it can hold just about anything together.
Duct tape isn’t the only tape that can be used for DIY projects, and arts and crafts though. If you’re looking for fun DIY projects to try using tape, then you’ve come to the right place. Let’s take a look at a few DIY projects for you and your roll of tape.
Duct Tape Hammock Mesh
The duct tape hammock could well be the ultimate DIY project. Instead of parting with your hard-earned dollars for a hammock, all you need is two sturdy bamboo stakes and a couple of rolls of duct tape.
Start by cutting the stake into two 3’ pieces. These will be the top and bottom of your hammock. Then place the pieces 6’ apart and tape them in place, on a suitable surface, so they don’t move.
Next, take your duct tape and run a long piece of tape from one stake to the other. Leave a gap the width of a piece of duct tape and then repeat. Once you have all your longer pieces running from top to bottom it’s time to go the other way.
Run shorter pieces across the width of the hammock leaving a gap the width of a piece of duct tape in between. Repeat this until you have a checkered pattern. Now it’s time to flip the hammock over.
With the sticky side of the hammock facing up, you need to carefully apply the duct tape over the existing tape. Start with the shorter pieces and save the longer pieces until last. Once this is done you have your own hammock mesh.
Woodworking Essentials
A lot of DIY involves woodwork, and holding wood in place for things such as gluing, planing and routing can be tricky. But not with the right tape! This double sided woodworking tape helps you to keep wood fixed firmly in place for all your DIY needs.
Fly Catchers
If you struggle with pesky flies or other insects in your garage or around your patio, then duct tape might just be able to help.
All you need to do is hang short lengths of duct tape from your garage roof, or the soffits over your patio, and you have your own homemade insect catchers. As we all know, duct tape will stick just about anything, and that includes winged pests.
Desk Organisers
Once you’re finished with your tape the fun doesn’t have to end. You can use the cores from the old rolls of tapes to make desk organizers for stationary. Just tape two cores together with a colored tape of your choice.
You can make as many as you want and then use a small amount of tape to secure them all together to make a pyramid.
