Red Clay Konjac Body Sponge
I tried my first Konjac Sponge several months ago. It was a bamboo charcoal facial sponge offered by this same company (My Konjac) at that time, I knew very little about them, although I had heard several people talk about them.
I now know that Konjac Sponges were originated in Asia. They are made from root fibers of a Konjac plant, which grow in Japan, China and Indonesia. They have been popular in Asia for years, and are known for naturally exfoliating the skin without using harsh chemicals.
You can also by them infused with Charcoal, such as the facial one I tried months ago, which is good for deep pore cleaning and acne. The Red Clay sponge like this one I tried is good for dry, sensitive and aging skin. There are also several other different infusions you can buy depending on your skin type. You can buy konjac sponges in a smaller facial sponge or a larger body sponge. They are hard when dry and then soften up and expand when placed in water.
Here are some of the features of the Red Clay Body Sponge by My Konjac
- Hypoallergenic
- Gently Exfoliates
- Improves Skin Texture and Elasticity
- 100% Natural
- Chemical Free and Biodegradable
- Cruelty Free
I also had a chance to try a Konjac body sponge several months ago that I received in my Julep maven Box. After using the Red Clay sponge from MY KONJAC several times now I have to say that it’s probably my favorite.
(Here are the two compared side by side after both being place in water and allowed to expand)
While the My Konjac sponge is a little smaller, it is easier to grip and not as slippery in the shower since it has the groves on it. The red clay sponge also gently exfoliated my skin without being too harsh and didn’t leave a slimy film. One thing I wish the Red Clay Body sponge did have, was a hook attached to the top like the other one. It just makes it easier to hang up and dry when finished.
I also want to mention that you can use any of the konjac sponges alone, or with your favorite shower gel for the body sponge, or alone or with cleanser when using the facial sponge. I always use something on mine, because it just doesn’t feel right when used alone.
Overall I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with dry, sensitive skin, who wants to exfoliate without harsh chemicals.
