Clothes can be expensive, and the costs add up even more if you have little ones.
I have three girls, all within a few years apart. To save a little money, I try to hand down the clothes to the next child that the other one has outgrown. That’s why it’s important for us to keep the clothes in good shape and looking good.
Here are 5 laundry tips to make your clothes last longer too (or your kids)!
1. Read Fabric Care Labels
It’s important to always read the fabric labels. Some items such as wool are dry clean only. While cotton fabric is normally best with cold water to prevent fading and shrinkage. When in doubt you can use cold water with the gentle cycle.
2. Carry a Stain Remover Pen
If you’ve ever been out to a restaurant and spilled something on you, or have kids then a stain remover pen is a must!
Stain remover pens like Biz On-the-Go Stain Eliminator is perfect to carry with you to keep those stains from setting in and making them harder to remove later.
They are easy to throw in the diaper bag or handbag and can really come in handy!
3. Sort Your Laundry
It may be a no-brainer but many items shouldn’t be washed together. You don’t want delicate items washed with rough jeans or items with zippers that could tear or damage the fabric.
It’s also important to separate colors from white-colored clothing to prevent color bleeding.
4. Use The Right Amount And Type Of Detergent
More is not always better! If you use too much detergent that it can leave your clothes dull and wear them out quicker over time.
Chose a quality detergent and add a laundry booster to each load such as Biz liquid, liquid boosters or powder.
5. Check For Stains Before You Wash
Always check the laundry as you are sorting and putting it in the washer. If you notice a stain, you should pretreat it first.
For small stains you can use Biz liquid and simply apply a concentrated amount directly to the stain, wet with warm water, rub gently and then wash as usual.
Stain removal is also easier the sooner you treat it. One of the things I love about Biz is that it works on ALL stains, including grass, tomato stains, grape juice and more!
Clothes are an investment, so it’s important to keep them looking good. With a few tips and minimal time, your clothes will look good as new and should last many years!
