Now Your A Mom, Could A Career Helping Others Be Right For You?
When it comes to choosing a career we can often find ourselves in a situation where we really don’t know what we want to do when the time comes to choose. As a mom, you may have taken a career break to be with your children, and fundamentally unsure about whether your previous career is right for you moving forward. But with a bit of life experience you can start to determine where your strengths lie. Many people love the idea of helping others when it comes to their career, and whether you want a career change or are dipping your toe in the waters of the unknown, I thought it would be an ideal time to share with you some of the careers you could consider.
Teaching English
Sometimes it is nice to try and give back, and while now that you are a new mom, you find that you like the idea of helping people. A great idea might be to consider teaching. Not just in schools, although that could be an option and something you may need otrain for. But you could consider teaching foreign nationals the English language. Many people from all over the world come into our country for a new life and opportunities that it can present, but their language skills may need a little work. This type of career gives you the flexibility of time off and less hours during the day. It could be the ideal career change. Working in schools also gives you the benefit of having the time off with your children as they grow.
Being involved with a charity
Being involved with a charity can be equally as rewarding. Whether you choose to give foreign aid, build schools or shelter in poverty stricken areas, or work closely with local charities at home, the work you do could potentially change peoples or animals lives and it could definitely be a rewarding career move to make. Often people who work within charities have a connection with the work they do in some way, or feel passionate about raising awareness.
Becoming a health professional
There is no greater way to help people than when you find them at their most vulnerable, and so working as a health professional could really do that for you. Whether you choose to train as a nurse where a doctor of nursing practice program could work well, a carer for the young or the elderly or even help deliver babies as a midwife, it can be one of those careers where everyday you are helping people and being part of their lives and their journey to feeling well once more.
Working online and sharing your passions and beliefs
Finally, working online and sharing your passions and beliefs can actually be a great way to help people. For example, I share my views and opinions on items moms would find useful in the home and beyond, or ways you can make your own DIY products. But you could do something similar. You may have a passion to share your views and experiences through parenting, your home makeovers and lifestyle choices, and even hope to make a change or allow someone to feel less alone through a tough situation. Writing and working online be that through a blog or social media platforms can help you to do that and these days people have been able to make their online blog and social accounts their full time jobs.
I hope that this has inspired you to consider a career where other people can benefit.
