DIY Lavender Travel Candle
Lavender has always been one of my go-to favorite essential oils. I think it was even the first essential oil I ever used.
Lavender is known for it’s relaxing properties, has a nice calming scent, antibacterial, and is one of the safest essential oils when diluted properly.
It’s no wonder it’s a favorite with many people, including myself!
When the kids are fighting, the house is chaotic, or I’m feeling anxious, I go into the cabinet and grab the lavender essential oil and put a few drops in the diffuser.
I’m not sure what it is about the lavender, but it does seem to help relax and calm everyone down. I also like to use lavender essential oil in homemade body scrubs, soap, body wash, and even homemade playdough for the kids!
This lavender travel candle is perfect for when you’re away from home, especially when it’s not convenient to bring a diffuser.
Just be sure to check the regulations of where you are staying, such as in a hotel, to make sure it is okay to burn. And of course as always, never leave the candle unattended or where children or pets can get to them.
These lavender travel candles would also make a great gift for the traveler in your life, or anyone who wants to relax.

Lavender Travel Candle
Relaxing lavender scented candle in a convenient travel tin. Great for gift giving too!
Ingredients
- 1 cup soy wax flakes
- 8-10 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 candle wicks
- 2 (2 oz) metal tins
- lavender buds (optional)
Instructions
-
Glue your candle wicks using a hot glue gun in the center of the inside of the metal tin.
-
In a microwave safe bowl microwave the soy flakes until fully melted. Check in 30-second intervals and stir.
-
Let the wax cool slightly and add in the lavender essential oil and lavender buds, if using.
-
Pour the scented wax mixture slowly into your prepared tins. Make sure to keep the wick centered. Wrap the extra wick around a pencil or use a clothespin to safely keep your wick in place until the wax has hardened.
-
Once the wax has completely set up, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch. Your candle is now ready to use. Be sure to never leave the candle unattended and use caution when using around kids or pets.
