It’s hard to believe Halloween is right around the corner! Since I just received my new Cricut Explore Air 2, I couldn’t wait to make some Rae Dunn inspired mugs!
This mug was super easy to make with the machine and turned out really cute, if I do say so myself. 🙂
If you want to make your own Rae Dunn inspired Halloween mug you will need:
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Fine Point Blade
- Design Space (included with machine)
- a mug (I bought this one at the dollar store)
- The Skinny Font downloaded from dafont (for personal use, not commercial)
- Black Permanent Vinyl
- LightGrip Machine Mat 12″ x 12″
- Weeding Tool
- Spatula
- Transfer Tape
Instructions:
1. Clean and dry the mug thoroughly and go to the design space dashboard.
2. Click on the new project and set the Cricut Explore Air 2 machine knob to vinyl.
3. Next, click on the font, “The Skinny”, and type in the word “BOO”. (You will need to upload the font from dafont.com first) After the font is uploaded it should be located in your fonts under system.
You can also find the project and measurements in design space here.
4. Make sure the fine point blade is in the machine and the machine is connected and turned on.
5. Place your vinyl on the lightgrip mat and feed it into the machine. Once you get confirmation that the design is ready in design space, you can push the “C” button on the machine to begin cutting.
6. Once the machine has finished cutting your design, carefully remove the mat from the machine and gently pull away the leftover vinyl. You will need to use the weeding tool to carve out the letters.
7. Place the transfer tape over your design and rub the spatula over it so it adheres to the tape.
8. Once the design has adhered to the transfer tape, carefully transfer it to your mug and pull away from the back of the tape.
I just love the simplicity and look of this Halloween mug! This would also make a cute little gift, especially with some Halloween candy or goodies in cellophane-wrapped inside.
