When we’re young, most of us have no idea of all the day-to-day things our mothers do for us. From the moment we’re born, our mums are responsible for feeding, comforting and teaching us invaluable life lessons.
Plus, you’ll never have a bigger cheerleader than your mum. She’s always there to boost your self-esteem while making sure that you’re safe. So, how do you say “thank you” to someone who has done so much for you your whole life?
For starters, you don’t have to wait for Mother’s Day or her birthday to show your appreciation. Here are five suggestions on simple things you can do to show your mum how much she means to you:
1.Go for a beauty treatment
At least once a year, book your mum a full beauty treatment with the works. Full body-massage, mani-pedi, facial and even a teeth whitening treatment!
This is a great way to remind your mum that she is as beautiful outside as she is inside.
Just make sure you take her to the best teeth whitening practitioner in your area. This is one treatment you don’t want to botch.
2.Take her out on the town
Take your mum somewhere special for lunch or dinner and be sure to make reservations ahead of time. Just imagine the smile on her face when she sees a “reserved” sign on the most exclusive tables in the entire restaurant. Not to mention the special treatment she’ll get from the staff since it’s her special day.
If your mum is the outdoorsy type, consider taking her to a picnic at a local botanical garden or nature reserve. Pack a special basket with all her favorite treats and check the weather forecast in advance so you can pick the perfect day.
3.Show your gratitude through a list
Make a list of all the things you, your friends and family members appreciate about your mom. This special message should highlight all the different ways she inspired you growing up, and how she continues to do so now.
Compliment her for all the times she built your self-esteem. Highlight how she made you feel safe and saw greatness in you before anyone else could. Be sure to print this list on special fine paper or craft paper. You could even get crafty and have it printed on a canvas or wood framing. Share this thoughtful gift with your mum and show her that she’s loved and appreciated.
4.Spend time doing what she wants to do
If your mum loves going to the movies, taking walks, or horse riding, go out and do it with her. Consider monthly clubs for wine, books, beauty or fashion, as well. Don’t forget to preserve those special moments by hiring a professional photographer to do a private photo session. Later on, you can use the photos to compile a photo album, design it online and have it printed professionally.
5.Take a class
From art classes to immersive cooking tutorials, there’s no shortage of fun and amazing activities that you can do with your mum. This is a great way to encourage your mum to explore her creative side while learning something new. Jewelry-making and pottery classes are always a hit.
The average mother spends over 54,000 hours with their child by the time that child is eighteen. That’s a lot of hours invested into developing another human being and moms deserve all the praise and gratitude for doing that.
