I’m back with another Cricut machine project! This DIY Christmas pillow is super easy, and perfect for the holidays!
If you do not have a Cricut machine, I recommend you read my review on the Cricut Explore Air 2 and you can also read my review on the Cricut EasyPress.
If you are a crafter, I highly recommend the investment in at least the Cricut Explore Air 2. You can make anything from personalized mugs, wall art, home decor, t shirts, cards and more!
There is a tiny bit of a learning curve, just like with anything new, but I found tons of Cricut brand videos and fellow bloggers to help explain the process.
There’s also thousands and thousands of ready to make design ideas, that you can use with a design space account, that comes free with your machine.
To make the Merry & Bright Pillow you will need:
- Cricut Machine ( I used the Cricut Explore Air 2)
- Cricut EasyPress ( I used the 12-in x 10-in size, but you can use a smaller EasyPress or even a basic iron.
- Design Space (Merry & Bright text found here)
- Cutting Mat ( I used the light grip mat)
- Solid Color Linen Throw Pillow Cover ,12 x 20 Inches, Beige 2 (there are several colors to choose from to match your decor)
- 12 x 20 Inch Pillow Insert ( I used this one)
- Basic Cricut Tools Set
*Please Note: Since this is a heat transfer design, make sure to mirror the design in design space, and make sure the vinyl is placed shiny side down on the cutting mat. Also, if you are using the Cricut Explore Air 2 you will want to set the dial to the “Iron On” setting.
1. Go to Design Space
2. Cut and weed your design using your Cricut machine and everyday iron-on vinyl. Be sure to mirror your design and place the vinyl shiny side down on your cutting mat.
3. While you are weeding your design, you can plug in the EasyPress machine. Set the temperature to 350 degrees and 30 seconds.
4. Center your pillow cover on the protective heat press mat (can also use iron and ironing board, just be sure you use a sturdy and protected surface)
5. Slowly run the EasyPress machine over both sides of the pillow to smooth out wrinkles and to prepare the cover.
6. Center your merry and bright design on the pillow and apply the EasyPress machine and start the timer.
7. Once the timer is done, remove the EasyPress slowly and allow the design time to cool.
8. Carefully remove the heat transfer paper from the top of the design on the pillow.
This pillow was such an easy and fun project and I love how it added a little holiday cheer to the room!
