Turning The Backyard Into A Playground
Summer is just around the corner (yes, already!) and the best thing about it is that your kids will finally be able to play outside. If you have a backyard, you are one of those lucky parents. By turning it into a playground you can ensure that your kids will enjoy a lot of outdoor fun while not having to worry about their safety. If there are not many things to do in your backyard, do not worry. With a little bit of imagination and some time on your hands, you will be able to get crafty and engage in some really interesting projects. In fact, you can even get your kids involved and spend some quality time with them. If you have no idea what you should do with all that space behind your house, here are a couple of ideas your children will surely like.
Create chalkboard walls
This is such an easy project and your kids will finally stop drawing with chalk on your driveway. Although you can buy a chalkboard, it is even easer (not to mention cheaper) to make one yourself. You will need a flat piece of wood and some chalkboard paint. Consider installing this board on your fence and your kids will have their own wall they can draw on and master their skills.
Consider making a tiny zip line
Riding a zip line is a fun summer activity kids usually engage in on holidays. However, who says zip lines are reserved just for vacations? If you have a larger backyard, you can create a miniature version of a zip line and your children will spend hours playing with it. Be sure to test it and make sure it’s safe before you let your little ones near it.
Build a swing
All you need is an old chair and some sturdy rope and you will be able to make a swing you can hang in your yard. Let your kids choose the color and help you with this easy project. You can also use an old tire instead of a chair. It is extremely important that you make sure your swing is all safe and secure, so do your research, find additional info about the best ropes available on the market, and get a sturdy one for your project.
Build a backyard tent
Do your kids love making tents in the middle of the living room out of old blankets and sheets? If so, they will definitely enjoy having their own tent in the backyard. You can improvise and make it out of old things or set up a real tent behind your home. If your children love playing in it, consider organizing a sleepover where your kids and their friends can spend the night underneath the stars. With a couple of bags of marshmallows and scary stories can become a parent of the year!
Opt for some sandy fun
If every time you go to the beach your kids spend hours making sand castles and playing in the dirt, why don’t you bring a piece of the beach back home? Creating a sandbox couldn’t be easier and you can even surprise your little ones with a new set of sand toys.
Build a treehouse
Although this seems like a huge project it really doesn’t have to be. Look for inspiration online and you will see that some treehouses are rather simple. Having their own treehouse where they can play and hang out with their friends is every kid’s dream come true, so build one yourself or ask someone to help you.
Turn your yard into a playground and your children will definitely spend more time outside this summer.
