How to Dye Easter Eggs with Whipped Cream

I love dyeing Easter eggs each year. Normally we make the traditional dyed Easter eggs, using either food coloring and vinegar, or the Paas kits you get at the store.
This year we decided to switch it up a little bit, and make Whipped Cream Dyed Easter Eggs! I have to say it’s waaay more fun than dying eggs the traditional way!
Supplies:
one dozen hard-boiled eggs
large bowl
vinegar
1 (12 oz. container) Cool Whip
9 by 13 in. baking sheet
food coloring
skewer stick, popsicle stick, or you can even use a spoon to swirl the colors
paper towels
First, soak the hard-boiled eggs in vinegar for 30 minutes to an hour. Make sure to cover the eggs completely with the vinegar. The vinegar helps to soak up the color to give you more vibrant eggs!
Next, spread one full 12 oz container of Cool Whip onto a cookie sheet.
Add drops of food coloring to the Cool Whip. I ended up adding a little more after I took the picture.
Look at the pretty swirls!
Now for the fun part! Take your skewer, or popsicle stick or whatever you decide to use, and glide it through the different colors. I had fun making different designs. You really can’t mess it up, just have fun with it!
Next, dry off the egg from the vinegar and gently roll it in the whipped cream one at a time.
The kids had a lot of fun with this part. The great thing about it is I didn’t have to worry much, since it’s basically just food coloring and cool whip! I even caught my three year old taking a bite of it. I mean, who doesn’t like Cool Whip, right?
It does get a little messy, so be sure to have plenty of paper towels nearby!
After you’ve rolled them in the whipped cream, set them on paper towels to dry for an hour.
Then, just run the eggs under cool water, and dry with a paper towel for awesome fun marbled eggs!
To give them a little bit of shine, you can also dip a paper towel in cooking oil and run it over the egg.
I love how unique each one turned out!
Happy Easter!
