I’ll admit I have quite an obsession with gingerbread scent as you might have noticed from my gingerbread scrub, gingerbread lotion, and my post on how to make gingerbread candles.
I recently ordered this gingerbread silicone mold and couldn’t wait to get started on some ideas I had.
I decided to make gingerbread soap with the leftover soap base I had when I made the pumpkin spice soap.
I can’t believe how cute they turned out and will make great gifts and stocking stuffers!
These make great gifts! I mean who could resist these cute little gingerbread boys and girls? Amirite?
If you’ve never made melt and pour soap before, it is basically failproof. You simply melt it in the microwave, add the fragrance you want to use and any additives, and pour it into the mold.
The whole process takes less than 20 minutes and that includes time letting the soap harden in the mold!
You Will Need:
Cinnamon – Optional (cooking spice)
Rubbing Alcohol in a Spray Bottle – Optional (to smooth out any air bubbles in the soap)
Once your soap base is melted add in the gingerbread fragrance oil and cinnamon (if using)
It can get a little messy as you can see, so you may want to lay some newspaper or wax paper under your workspace for easy cleanup.
My 3-year-old also decided that a few of the gingerbread needed some more cinnamon as you can see by the pic.
If you are worried about air bubbles you can spray the soap with rubbing alcohol. I did have a few air bubbles as you can see and didn’t use rubbing alcohol but I really didn’t mind having a few.
Once the soap is cool and hardened you can remove them from the mold. (about 20-30 minutes) and they are ready for use or packaging for gift giving!
